Star Jones Calls “Coming Out” The New Publicity Stunt

We all know Star Jones has never been one to mince words but she might have taken it a little too far in her latest “tell it like it is” comment. Recently, the media personality suggested that Anderson Cooper’s disclosure of being gay was nothing more than a ploy to gain more views for his talk show. She likened it to Oprah’s admission to doing drugs [and being pregnant at 14] years ago.

Reportedly, Jones claimed the following:

“[Cooper is] a daytime talk show host and when the rating slip in daytime, the hosts tend to tell you lots of things about them. I remember Oprah said she smoked crack, Oprah said she was pregnant at 14 and considered suicide … There [are] times when you generate information for ratings.”

Her implication that ratings will increase for Anderson as a result of his disclosure is not necessarily far reaching, however he has too much to lose for that to be his only intent.
